Its an impressive shinken. Has good balance and cuts clean using tatami omote. My sons and I like it very much and we are thinking of getting the one made of tamahagane.

As said already great balance, quite a light sword even without groove and at 8mm, beautiful fittings and very nice to have chosen them. The hamon was not as prominent as expected, possibly due to whatever polish the sword was given, was slightly improved by a clean and oil but really it's just nice to see an authentic hamon. Probably one of if not the best none-japanese option in the uk!

Solid construction. Fierce blade. Beautiful hamon. On mine, there is one flawed area in the polish of the steel; The defect is tiny, but noticeable.
