This Folded Carbon Steel Katana Sword is simply a breathtaking piece of blacksmithing art. The super hard blade is made of two different grades of carbon steel folded overmany times that creates such the beautiful grains that is known as Hada.

This Folded Carbon Steel Katana Sword is optimal for the technical training such as many Kata of Iaido but also for the cutting exercises because of the super hard blade by the 13-time folding.  The blade has about 34.000 layers and this number of layers cause a strong and very good visible masame hada which makes the blade very beautiful. The blade is hardened traditionally in a loam coat and has the real Hamon, not the sandblasted pattern.  However, the masame hada is so visible that the hamon may not appear as clear as you expect. The hardness is 43 degree HCR for the spine(Mune) and 60 degree HCR for the cutting edge, which is very flat and extra razor-sharp.

Motokasane is approximately 8 mm thick and for those who wish the stronger blade, we also offer the 8 mm option. The weight without the Saya is approximately 1100 gram for 2.5 shaku(approximately 970 gram for the 2.5 shaku with 6 mm Motokasane).
