Steel Blade Iaito

Our Standard iaito with steel blade is characterized as an excellent price-performance ratio. The Iaito weighs approximately 920 gram without Saya for the 2.50 shaku and is supplied as standard with Hi groove(the blade without the Hi groove is also available). The real-like Hamon is sandblasted by hand. The hardness is 55 degree blade back in the HCR (Mune), and at the cutting edge (Ha). Although the blade is hardened, it is not designed fot Tameshigri; therefore, please do not attempt the test cutting with this Steel Iaito Katana Sword.

Tozando is proud to offer this Spring Steel Katana Sword that is particulary made for the technical training of Iaido but also for the test cutting exercises called Tameshigeri. The cutting edge is razor-sharp and has the 55 degree HCR hardness.
The blade’s thickness at the Habaki(Motokasane) is 8 mm for the extra durability. For those who would like th slimmer and lighter blade for Iaido, we also offer 6 mm thickness for the Motokasane.
With the cutting exercises of traditional straw mats or similar materials in mind, the blade is reinforced to prevent the breaking and bending. The Hamon is sandblasted for resembling the authentic Hamon.
Carbon Steel Blade Katana

This special Katana/Shinken is distinguished by the outstanding quality of the blade. The top selected carbon steel is used on the blade by a modern steel manufacturing(C105W). This Carbon Steel Katana Sword is not only optimal for the technical Iaido training but also for cutting exercises called Tameshigiri.
This Carbon Steel Katana Sword is certainly carrying the optimum for a monosteel sword. Traditionally manufactured and hardened in a loam coat, the hardness in the blade back(Mune) is located at 40 degree HCR and the cutting edge(Ha) has a hardness of about 60 degree HCR. The Hamon is the real thing, not the sandblasted one. The cutting edge is very flat and very sharp forged. The blade is in default Habaki zone (Moto-Kasane) approximately 8 mm thick, weighing approximately 1100 gram for 2.50 shaku without Saya. The blade is very durable and designed for the classical cutting exercises, Tameshigiri of rice straw mats or bamboo green suitable.
Folded Carbon Steel Blade Katana

This Folded Carbon Steel Katana Sword is simply a breathtaking piece of blacksmithing art. The super hard blade is made of two different grades of carbon steel folded overmany times that creates such the beautiful grains that is known as Hada.
This Folded Carbon Steel Katana Sword is optimal for the technical training such as many Kata of Iaido but also for the cutting exercises because of the super hard blade by the 13-time folding. The blade has about 34.000 layers and this number of layers cause a strong and very good visible masame hada which makes the blade very beautiful. The blade is hardened traditionally in a loam coat and has the real Hamon, not the sandblasted pattern. However, the masame hada is so visible that the hamon may not appear as clear as you expect. The hardness is 43 degree HCR for the spine(Mune) and 60 degree HCR for the cutting edge, which is very flat and extra razor-sharp.
Motokasane is approximately 8 mm thick and for those who wish the stronger blade, we also offer the 8 mm option. The weight without the Saya is approximately 1100 gram for 2.5 shaku(approximately 970 gram for the 2.5 shaku with 6 mm Motokasane).
Folded Tamahagane Blade Katana

This Folded Tamahagane Katana Sword is the pinnacle among all of Tozando's live-blade sword selections.
Both the inner(softer) steel and the outer(harder) steel are made of raw Tamahagane which brings a resilient blade with the beautiful fine grain of Hada.
This Folded Tamahagane Katana Sword is optimal for the technical training such as many Kata of Iaido but also for the cutting exercises because of the extra super hard blade by the 15-time folding and the blade is hardened traditionally in a loam coat and the Hamon is real, not the sandblasted one. The hardness is 43 degree HCR for the spine(Mune) and 61 degree HCR for the cutting edge, which is very flat and extra razor-sharp.
Motokasane is approximately 8 mm thick as default, we also offer the 6 mm option for those who wish the slimmer blade. The weight without the Saya is approximately 1100 gram for 2.5 shaku(approximately 970 gram for the 2.5 shaku with 6 mm Motokasane).
