The top selected carbon steel is used on the blade by a modern steel manufacturing(C105W).  This Carbon Steel Katana Sword is not only optimal for the technical Iaido training but also for cutting exercises called Tameshigiri. This Carbon Steel Katana Sword is certainly carrying the optimum for a monosteel sword.  Traditionally manufactured and hardened in a loam coat, the hardness in the blade back(Mune) is located at 40 degree HCR and the cutting edge(Ha) has a hardness of about 60 degree HCR.  The Hamon is the real thing, not the sandblasted one. The cutting edge is very flat and very sharp forged.
